Standing in a Q(ueue)

The long awaited Motorola Q phone (see Blackberry Killer?) has been held up again. This time by Verizon, who say they are still testing the device. The ultra thin email device will be Motorola's answer to the Blackberry and the Treo. It has a Microsoft operating system, and could be a serious contender. Think Razr on the Net.

Sony=Oops

Sony began releasing music CD's with a hidden Digital Rights Management feature (a malicious rootkit software) to the public through retailers a few months ago. Since then, hundreds of PC's have been infected and have lost some of their functionality.
At the moment, Sony has stopped releasing CD's with the DRM on them, but thousands are still out there on the shelves.

Format Wars Again?

Twenty years ago, the video cassette industry fought a format battle that ended with the victory of VHS over Beta. Today a new battle over formats is shaping up for next generation DVD's. Toshiba, with it's HD-DVD and Sony with the Blu-Ray technology are locked in a competition to win the market. Smart buyers can only wait and see which format prevails.
